If the tarot deck were a book, the Death card would be the chapter that begins halfway through it. Characters have come and gone. A LOT has happened. Big, irreversible changes come next and their impact is unforgettable.
We can never go back to what came before, but there’s still so much more to come. Like, half the story! Sequentially, Death is number 13 ((of 22)) of the “traditional” Major Arcana cards of the tarot, also known as the most significant life events and lessons we experience as humans. I believe the core wisdom of this card is in its placement here — right in the middle.
Death is never *really* the end of everything, but worlds do perish.
It’s up to us to figure out the best way to process it, grieve the loss, and trust that whatever comes afterward will be beautiful again someday…. That the corpse of what once was will nurture something new: even if we’re not quite sure what it is yet.

I know we live in dark times. Devastating endings have occurred recently and it can be rough trying to find any semblance of hope for the future. Kelli Horan‘s vision in her Blue Screen of Death series currently hosted at Studio 4 – PGH does a stellar job artfully exploring the consequences of post modern world. I’ll be there to offer guidance via tarot readings to all those who need a shining star of hope: a personalized soul-seed to hold close as decay surrounds us all.
I’m grateful to be a part of her END OF THE WORLD art show tomorrow Friday, November 22 in Bloomfield at Studio 4 from 6:00 – 9:00pm. ErynRoseTattoo will be there with appropriately themed flash tattoos and Two Frays Brewery will be providing the booze/non-booze drinks.
Let’s unpack Death together: because if there is anything I know for certain, it’s that community togetherness what’s going to best support us all as we discover what’s on the other side. 💀
